Fundraising

Believe it or not the Gala Day costs in the region of £10,000 to stage every year and the vast majority of this money is raised by the Gala Group and the Court parents. We do get a grant from Strathclyde Police and from South Lanarkshire Council but we end up giving the council most of that money back via licencing costs and hall lets. So as you can imagine fundraising takes up a lot of our time. Here are a selection of the ways we have raised funds this year.

Bingo Nights

Our ever-popular bingo nights have been running again this year. Our resident bingo caller Jessie Reid ably assisted by Liz White run the nights with other committee members in the background up to our elbows in fairy liquid washing the tea dishes. Donations for prizes both for the bingo games and the raffle are always greatly appreciated.
The bingo has been more successful than ever this year with the following amounts raised:-

  • February - £353.86
  • March - £368.50

Sponsored Walk

Walk

The Gala Court did a sponsored walk on Saturday 27th March. We met at 2pm at the Manse Road bridge and we all walked round Allans and finished up in the field in the park for some juice and crisps. Please get your sponsor money to Colin as soon as possible if you have not already done so.

Collecting Cans

Collecting cans are in the following shops in the village, Angie's, the Co-op, Spar, and the newsagents at Violet Crescent. Please give what you can, every little does help. In 2009 we raised several hundred pounds from the collecting cans.
